“The Raising of America- Are We Crazy About Our Kids?” documentary to be screened as part of Yamhill Community Care’s Family Resiliency Community Conversation series
McMinnville, Ore. — Yamhill Community Care is inviting individuals from business, healthcare, education, childcare, law enforcement, and the faith community to a film screening and discussion on the economic and social benefits of investing in early child care and education. The screening is part of YCC’s Family Resiliency Community Conversations: a series of events that explore ways we can strengthen families and build resiliency in our children.
Research is showing that over the lifetime of a child, government spending on high-quality early care and education will result in a net financial gain of $7 for every dollar invested. “Are We Crazy About Our Kids?” highlights the benefits of this investment – including improved educational outcomes, increased productivity and decreased social costs.
“Are We Crazy About Our Kids?” brings to life the classic studies of Perry Preschool and Abcedarian. This session, which also highlights other initiatives conducted by Nobel Laureate James Heckman, former Federal Reserve economist Arthur Rolnick, and others, demonstrates how high-quality early care and preschool yield huge personal and social benefits—and pay for themselves many times over.
“The Raising of America: Are We Crazy About Our Kids” will begin at 6:30 p.m., January10, 2017 at the Linfield Ice Auditorium.This event is free and open to the public; however, registration is required.
