Hope in Action: Yamhill Community Care and Partners Respond to Rising Opioid Deaths

In early 2025, as opioid-related deaths in Yamhill County began to rise sharply, Yamhill Community Care (YCCO) decided to take action. YCCO reached out to Yamhill County Health and Human Services (YCHHS) to help spread the word that recovery is possible and resources are available. The result was a targeted outreach campaign to connect individuals—and their loved ones—with the support they need.

The campaign’s central message is powerful in its simplicity: “There is hope; resources are available to help you or a loved one recover.” Designed to reach both people struggling with substance use and the families and friends who care about them, the campaign leans on strategic communication and community collaboration.

Unfortunately, there is a pervasive myth that addiction services are not available due to long wait-times. Therefore, ads in English and Spanish begin with the phrase: “Same Day Services Available.”

Rather than overwhelm viewers with complex instructions, YCCO created a user-friendly webpage—ycco.madcollective.com/recover—that serves as a clean, mobile-optimized gateway to help. The page contains just three critical links: one to YCHHS’s adult behavioral health services, one to the local appointment line (503-434-7523), and one to the national 9-8-8 crisis line.

The campaign’s creative materials include a locally produced TV spot; billboard placements, digital radio spots on platforms like Pandora and Spotify, social media messaging, and local bus posters—ensuring broad exposure throughout the community.

The campaign is already having an impact on website visits—demonstrating that local institutions can move quickly and compassionately in response to a public health crisis.

For the business community, the implications are clear: addiction affects workforce readiness, family stability, and overall economic resilience. Supporting and amplifying efforts like this one isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s an investment in the health and strength of our community.
